Kevin Woeppel, PhD

Dr. Kevin Woeppel is the Chief Technical Officer at Vanish Therapeutics. He began his work with the company during his graduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh, where he worked under Dr. Tracy Cui. In his role, Kevin leads the research and development efforts in bioresorbable stimulation.

Kevin earned his B.S. in Bioengineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 2016 and continued his graduate studies at the same institution. His background is focused on the design, development, and optimization of neural electrodes and surface modifications for central and peripheral neural interfaces. Kevin has gained extensive experience conducting both in vitro and in vivo experiments, as well as in the design and characterization of materials. He is also well-versed in the methods and parameters associated with stimulation in the central and peripheral nervous systems.

Throughout his graduate studies, Dr. Woeppel has produced 23 publications, which have garnered 828 citations and earned him an H-index of 14. He also has four pending patent applications. In 2021, he secured first place in the Michael G. Wells Student Healthcare Competition and was honored as the Research Assistant of the Year by the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Bioengineering for his dedication and significant contributions to the field. Kevin graduated with his PhD in 2022.
